German Democratic Republic

The German Democratic Republic (GDR or East Germany) is a country in central Europe. East Germany borders West Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. It is a member of the Warsaw Pact.
East Germany was formed on 7 October 1949 after the Soviet liberation and temporary rule of the country since 1945. The country is known in the Warsaw Pact for being one of the richest nations in the alliance, as well as having great art and education.
The GDR has been a close ally of Czechoslovakia since the formation of the Warsaw Pact in 1955.


IFA Wartburg

IFA Wartburg is the most famous band in the Eastern Bloc countries, originating in East Germany. It was created by the Cultural Comitee of the GDR to spread positive messages of Socialism to younger audiences. The two artists are known as Heinz Klinger and Rolf Kempinski.
